HSDC is delivering FREE culturally relevant and responsive parenting support workshops, counseling and mentorship in Scarborough East. The project aims to foster positive outcomes for Black children, youth and parents in Scarborough to promote healthy parenting, child development and well-being to strengthen Afro-Caribbean families.
The program will have several positive outcomes and benefits, including: increased and improved parent-child relationships and family cohesiveness; improved cultural identity for Black children and youth; improved resilience and problem solving skills for parents/caregivers and children; reduced conflict with the law for Afro-Caribbean youth and reduction in children placed in care of Children’s Aid Society as a result of unresolved family issues and conflict. The project aims to create a strengthened image of the Afro-Caribbean Families in Ontario, leading to happier and re-unified families.
